The forbidden foods for dogs to take care of their health are:
- Chocolate
The cocoa in chocolate has a stimulant called “Theobromine” which is quite toxic for dogs.
Some of the symptoms of eating it can be excessive thirst, panting, diarrhea, vomiting, tremors, convulsions and hyperactivity. In case the dog eats a large amount, it may go into a coma, you should call your veterinarian as soon as possible.
- Dairy: ice cream, milk or cheese
Dogs do not have the enzyme “lactase” which is responsible for breaking down ingested dairy products.
If the dog ingests them, it can cause intestinal disorders or diarrhea. The only milk they can drink is the milk they suckle from their mother.
- Avocado, grapes and seeds of certain fruits.
There are fruits that are beneficial for our furry friends, but there are others that are not. Beware! Avocado has a toxin called “persin” to which many dogs are allergic and can cause respiratory distress. Grapes and raisins are harmful to pets, they cause kidney failure. Apple, peach and apricot seeds contain small amounts of cyanide.
- Onions, garlic, leeks, scallions and shallots
They contain a substance called “Thiosulfate” capable of causing hemophilic anemia.
- Macadamia nuts, almonds, walnuts, walnuts
They can be toxic for dogs because they have high amounts of oils and fats that can cause pancreatitis.
- Liver
Contains a large amount of vitamin A that dogs do not assimilate naturally.
- Sweets, sugars, sweeteners and treats
All sweets can be considered forbidden foods for dogs. Sugar is a food that should be avoided, as it can cause obesity, diabetes and in the long term blindness (loss of vision).
- Caffeine, alcohol, tea and energy drinks.
Under no circumstances should dogs drink these beverages or other stimulating substances, as they can become intoxicated and die a sudden death.
- Yeast
It is especially toxic, since it can expand to the intestine causing large amounts of gas or cause respiratory problems. It can also occur with fermented doughs.
- Fish with bones
The bones can get stuck in the throat and cause choking.
