GESPETFOOD’s veterinary team helps your furry companion to have a happy autumn.
Autumn is here and with it all the change that comes with a new season and this time the “in-between season”, we help you to help your dog live this season in the healthiest way possible with the following tips:
- MOOD CHANGES IN THE RETURN TO ROUTINE
Summer is over and routine is back for everyone, including dogs. It is time to adapt to new schedules and organize daily activities also with our pets. Keep in mind that your dog has spent more time with you on vacation, so you should avoid separation anxiety after your return to work. Changes of place, schedules… everything influences the organism and dogs can suffer changes in mood if we do not help them in the adaptation. Patience is required for this process, which will take time and should at least last the first few weeks after the end of the summer to get back into the daily routine. Post-vacation syndrome can affect our pets causing them sadness and even excessive tiredness, so we must be attentive with them when they return from work and leave them their favorite toy to keep them entertained while we are away.
- EXERCISE AND WALKS
Your dog will release stress and feel much better when you return and go outside with him. Walks and outdoor exercise are essential to help your dog adapt to the change of season, as they will improve your pet’s mood (as well as yours) and keep him more physically fit. Although temperatures drop and sometimes you feel like going out less, these activities are necessary and, in some cases, can be more rewarding because we can practice them at hours that in summer were not possible due to the heat.
- NUTRITION AND WEIGHT CONTROL
Precisely during the vacation season, our diet is more uncontrolled than usual and when we return we must adapt to the usual rhythm. Changes in meal times also affect dogs and overweight is again a threat to consider. Your pet should recover its usual portion of food, avoiding those harmful foods, and combine it with exercise and daily walks to reduce its anxiety and regain its ideal weight.
We hope our advice and the information we share with you will help you, in the hope that your furry friend will have a wonderful and healthy life.
