What to do if my dog got wet in the rain?

There are times when we cannot prevent our dog from getting wet in the rain and if this is your case, you should be very careful if this happens to you.

Drying him as soon as you get home is very important. Dry him very well with a towel to avoid diseases and the proliferation of fungi or bacteria that can cause a skin disease. You should pay special attention to the areas around the ears, armpits and pads, where moisture can accumulate the most.

If the dog sits or lies down wet on the cold floor it can get sick and suffer from some diseases such as urinary problems.

Taking care of him is our duty since we accept him as a member of our family at home. If you see that after the walk he is having constipation, scratches his ears a lot or has any unusual attitude, call the veterinarian.

As a last tip, never leave a dog alone outdoors. The risk of him getting lost, escaping or having an accident is very high. Their nerves are more on edge than usual and this can be a bad experience. The walk is a moment to share and have a good time so, at the end of the walk, reward your dog’s good behavior with a cuddle and treats session.

We hope it works for you and your furry friends manage to come out of these rains undefeated and healthy. If you want to contact the GESPETFOOD veterinary team, write us at info@gespetfood.com and follow us on our social networks for more tips.
