The GESPETFOOD veterinary team helps you to choose among the bones, sausages, nuggets and ears for dogs that we have in our store.

We will divide the advice for your dog into baby, puppy and adult, small breeds, miniature breeds, large breeds and giant breeds.

The “BABIES” should only drink milk, either maternal or formulated, until they start with the initiation or starter feed. During this period, the dog’s digestive system is very sensitive, so we should not leave this diet. These feeds are formulated with the necessary nutrients for the puppy and its hardness is much less than that of a normal feed. This diet should last more or less until the puppy is two months old, or until indicated by your veterinarian.

The “PUPPIES”, from the age of two months, already begin their training period, so it is the ideal age to start with the three types of nuggets (chicken, duck, veal), as well as jerky (chicken and veal) and sausages (veal, hare and pork). Although these three types of products are large, they are soft, and therefore easily broken by hand, so they are suitable for all breeds (except miniatures).

Within the “ADULT” dogs, we have to differentiate between the types of existing sizes: miniature, small, medium and large and giant.

For MEDIUM, LARGE and GIANT dog breeds, there is no product not suitable for them. It must be taken into account that the bigger the animal, the less the reward will last due to its jaw size and animal strength.

For SMALL dog breeds (under 7kg in their ideal weight, not for overweight dogs), bones are not recommended. Slices of knuckle are, but always under supervision. The veal ears with meat and the rest of ears, maybe they are too hard for them. The nuggets, sausages, jerkys, nerves, esophagus of 15 cm and the strips are more recommendable for them.

And MINIATURE / TOY breeds of dogs, only nuggets, jerkys and sausages are recommended because of their soft consistency, and always provided under supervision.
